Since surveillance cameras are often installed outside and are expected to stand the test of 24/7operation, they are exposed to different kind of natural effects. One of the most important effect isfog. Fog decreases contrast and sometimes makes unseen the desired target. At present, onecommon approach to overcome this issue is to use a camera system which has specific opticalcomponent that senses more IR information in fogy weathers.[1] Surely this comes with high costbecause of the hardware based solution. There is also an alternative software solutions to defog animage but we can never expect the result as good as hardware based. As Yongatek, we are alsoworking on this issue and have already a solution on this area.
